September 4 – October 19, 2019, Abrazo Interno Gallery
Hernease Davis, Néstor Pérez-Molière, Iolet Francis, Keka Marzagao
The artists in When One Notices use analog photographic techniques to explore notions of memory, identity, mental health, displacement, and abandonment. The vulnerability of this exhibition’s artists is expressed not only in engaging with the imperfection that comes with the use of historic techniques, but also through revealing the tensions within the intangible spaces we all inhabit. Through their humanistic approach, they transform unseen, private spaces into public dialog through abstraction and introspection.
