I am a figurative artist and a portrait artist and, having spent my early years in a trailer park in New Jersey, I saw and liked many cultural outsiders. Heavily tattooed people, bodybuilders, circus freaks, movie monsters and a series of large (8 feet tall) free-standing cutouts of professional wrestlers were all subjects in my paintings. I am fascinated with how we want people to see us and who we think we are. I became a ceramic sculptor 30 years ago; my first series of life size sculptures being of cowboys fighting with each other. My next series was of children in Halloween costumes and consisted of lifesize ceramic sculptures, large pastel drawings and small marker drawings. My most recent series of ceramic sculptures is of human dolls with animal faces. I finish the pieces by adding real lace.
