Join us for the third iteration of HISTORIAS in Motion featuring Virginia Ayress and Kaila Bulé.
In collaboration with Kinfolk Tech, South Bronx Unite, The Action Lab, and the International Indigenous Hip Hop Festival, The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center will present the third iteration of HISTORIAS in Motion, an augmented-reality public artwork series featuring South Bronx muralist and activist Virginia Ayress and performer and community organizer Kaila Bulé. The launch will include an accompanying zine, monument docents, a community-led walking tour, a wheatpasting project, and live music performances.
The work memorializes the South Bronx as a cradle of Latinx social movements, cultural production, and urban land stewardship. Through digitally editing an existing mural Ayress honors the land's original Lenape stewards alongside Indigenous migrants, exploring how environmental justice, urban stewardship, Latino culture, and Indigenous ritual practice continue to shape the South Bronx today.
