Esperanza Spalding

(also known as irma nejando, or, i.e.) is a being who has grown to recognize love in the abstract and aspirational, and is now fully dedicated to learning how she can serve and embody actualized love through honor for and receptivity to, fellow humans, teachers, and practitioners of various regenerative arts.

Bass, piano, composition, performance, voice and lyrics are tools and disciplines she is engaged in deeply to cultivate her own channel for transmitting care and beauty through vibration/sound/presence.

Songwrights Apothecary Lab

Songwrights Apothecary Lab is a live installation where Esperanza Spalding and her fellow songwrights, researchers and mentors will be creating original music. The creation of this original music, which the lab will share with visitors during the festival, will continue Spalding's exploration over the past years of how musicians might meaningfully incorporate therapeutic practices and knowledge into their work.

The space will be open for “shareback” sessions in which the public will be welcomed and able to experience the lab. On June 18, the lab will open for audiences to hear music being created in the lab as well as conversations between the musical collaborators and the researchers.

The programs will take placa at the Flamboyán Theater, The Clemente
