Libertad Guerra is executive director of the Clemente Soto Velez Center, which tells the history of Hispanic culture in New York through a map called Nueva York Chronicles and plans walking tours as part of its Historias in Motion initiative. 

“Erasure isn’t new in terms of communities of color and their contributions,” said Guerra. “But when federal institutions pause and redact history, it’s up to community institutions like ours to keep that memory public.”
