Rev. Tony Tian-Ren Lin, PhD is the Senior Advisor for Education and Public Humanities working closely with the Clemente’s senior leadership team to implement learning programs in the community. Lin works full-time as the Associate Director and Director of Research for the Center for Public Theology and Public Policy at Yale Divinity School. He is a cultural sociologist whose scholarship focuses on the intersection of religion, immigration, race, and ethnicity. He is the author of Prosperity Gospel Latinos and Their American Dream (University of North Carolina Press, 2020). His work has been featured in The Atlantic Monthly, The Washington Post, LatinoUSA, WNYC, Christian Century, Sojourners, and other media outlets.

Lin was born in Taiwan and grew up in Argentina. He holds a bachelor's degree from Boston University, a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Master and Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology from the University of Virginia. Lin has held appointments at the University of Virginia and New York Theological Seminary. He is an ordained Presbyterian minister who served congregations in New Jersey, Virginia, and New York.
