THE GROWTH we have experienced in the last two years has been an intentional endeavor to reclaim The Clemente as a community resource and jewel. Working with our chosen communities here in Loisaida and across the globe, we have managed to cultivate a sanctuary for artists who embody the character and spirit of the Lower East Side.
The Clemente is a rare publicly-owned asset being stewarded by cultural workers of color for the enjoyment of future generations and artistic beneficiaries. We are moving into the future intentionally so that we both adapt and stay true to our core identity; so that we initiate actions and innovate according to a strategic vision, and not simply react to the momentous changes around us.
Grounded in our mission and history, we are positioning our center as a space of encounter and co-creation that intersects and transcends cultures and geographies.
As this year comes to an end, we ask that you help us continue to build on the work we have set out to do over the past three years. By making a donation, you are supporting an anchor organization that celebrates and mirrors our neighborhood's history, while also investing in the working-class vibrancy of an iconic New York neighborhood.
Here is for what is yet to come!!
