The second edition of Remesas y Sobremesa of the season will highlight the work of artists Zacarías González and Chong Gu. Carry for HISTORIAS follows González and Gu’s Carry project and will present a fleet of mobile kitchen carts and a kit of attachment accessories designed to support collective cooking and gathering across the Lower East Side through the exchange and adaptation of recipes. Attendees will assemble their own sandwiches with ingredients drawn from Cuban and Chinese recipes reworked with local, seasonal ingredients. The artists will then hold a discussion of how foodways connect people with the soil and sustain cultural memory across diasporas. Learn more about the project here.
